I was discussing durdle door with some friends a while ago and two of us were of the impression that it had collapsed! And had been in this knowledge for some years... until our friends pointed out that it had been an April fool years ago ! Fell for that one and actually felt sad about it for a long time!

It's nice to see its back in place!

I think that may be a good point as walking down did take a fair bit of effort, so walking up afterwards is very difficult. I’m around 3 stone overweight too. I found the backs of my legs were burning walking up and my chest was burning and tight too. We had to stop so many times to get my breath.

We also drove into Lulworth Cove and recovered on the stony beach there

I think I could of done it if it wasn’t so hot, we also didn’t drink enough water and I should of had a hat on. I’m not a hat person, absolutely not prepared at all. We went to lulworth cove after and I was much better but the next day I could hardly walk.

Same as when we were there, very hot day and I never wear a hat either. I spent the rest of our holiday checking which beaches were easily accessible with no steep walks to them 🤣

Glad to hear you all got away and had a nice time after your thread about your daughter possibly unable to go.
Heat does funny things, another one here 2 to 3 stone overweight and I'm on me feet all day with my job, anything between 15 and 25 thousand is my usual step count without too many issues but I remember one day in magic kingdom not quite enough suncream and water as I was walking round and then I nearly keeled over on the level short walk to the contemporary resort so wouldn't beat yourself up to much over this

We live 10 minutes max from Durdle Door, but never go to the beach. Much prefer Ringstead or Studland. Come back soon so many other beautiful things to see or do.

Thanks for the warning.

We're staying near there next week and we were planning visiting Durdle Door. So we may think twice about going down to the beach.

If it’s cool and you are fit you’ll have no problem, I’m not fit but am pretty fast on straight walks x

Bit of an update. We visited (the) Durdle Door last week. We did go down onto the beach, enjoyed the view and a paddle, and then managed to get back up to the car park.

My heart rate did get up to 157 bpm as I was climbing back up which was a tad worrying.

However, the weather was glorious when we visited - blue skies and fairly warm (for the UK anyway).
