Clive Sinclair has died

His death has been announced after a long battle with cancer. His work bringing the zx80, zx81 and spectrum introduced so many of us to the world of personal computing.

A life well spent

An individual way ahead of his time. Who remembers the C5?

Will be missed. Inventor of the first pocket calculator and his ZX series of computers introduced a nation to home computing and one of the main drivers behind the UK having some of the most talented game and software developers in the world

My uncle still has two of these in his garage! I remember when he brought them when I was a kid and he was sure it was going to be the next big thing. He has since kept them as he was sure they would become a collector's item and increase in value. Knowing his luck they probably will now as everything he touches seems to turn to gold!

I can’t tell you how many hours I spent on my Spectrum.

He was ahead of his time, C5, electric bikes etc, all failures came 20 years too early (both in terms of appetite for the product and battery and motor tech).

I have fond memories of a small white 32 step programable calculator that he brought out and the ZX81 that I saved to buy.

Although he brought affordable home computing to the masses, apparently he never owned a computer, never used the Internet, never had an email address and never made use of his electronic calculator

Isn't it strange how some people who are so successful don't take advantage of their success or even utilise it themselves.
Maybe he had no interests in his own products apart from their use to others and the money from designing and marketing them?
