60 years ago as part of Empire Day each class at my Primary school studied a country learnt a song and its meaning We studied Australia so went through each verse of Waltzing Matilda "Translating it"

When i came across the Eric Bogle song 20 years ago the contrast was even greater for me

He has written many songs since emigrating to Australia and cat lovers without a sense of humour should avoid this one
