I will be disappointed if there isn't some criticism... constructive - I am doing something wrong (probably editing and technical stuff)... Nasty criticism - providing our morals and how we act is in the correct manner then I expect this kind of criticism is just jealousy and something which says more about the person making the comments than us. That's their problem and probably means we are doing something right

We are a normal family in most ways... we have our quirks, but that's what makes us us.

Re the point about kids online, we will be careful what we put on definitely.

Completely understand what you are saying. Unfortunately, I do not have many photo albums of when I was younger and yes maybe this thing would have been embarrassing at that age but now I feel quite sad that i do not have those memories / photos to look back at.

This is one of the reasons we have dozens of the photobooks of the kids and us so they can have later in life and hopefully we can record memories like this.

I have recently tried explaining to eldest DS about my mum, and it's quite difficult when you realize you only have 2 physical pictures of her.

Think about the length. Sometimes it puts people off if they are too long.

And the same with short videos. Sometimes I watch something and think, is that it, where is the xyz info I thought you would show. Around 15 to 20 minutes for me is a good length to watch, as the Vloggers seem to be able to get a good bit of info without rambling and going on a tangent away from the original topic.

Also think about video titles. YouTube videos are searchable, both on YouTube and Google. My trip to Florida Day 1, My trip to Florida Day 2, My trip to Florida Day 3 are not going to get much views even though you might have really good info. Think about how you search for videos, for example you said you have a 5 year old, so a good title would be How My 5 Year Old Son Coped Wearing A Mask On A Flight To Orlando

Although I love watching vloggers in parks in florida it I always nice to see what people do outside the parks.
We watch a lot of different people but prefer it when they are more natural.
I guess some you just click with 😊

We started vlogging our trips when we started The Great British Mickey Waffle - it's amazing to be able to share your memories and a good place to look back in the future at where you've been and what you've been up to.

Watching other vlogs help pass the time between trips and really helps with our planning. As we know things can change very quickly.

We look forward to seeing your vlogs and of course, we'll follow your socials too

If the main purpose is for your own family memories, there's no reason why you need to publish the videos publically on Youtube.

In fact, by NOT publishing on Youtube you have more latitude as to what you include. Some personal things you may not want the world to see, but would be fine to be left in a video which is only for family consumption. You also don't need to worry about copyright, such as if you use backing music, if the video isn't published.

I'm not trying to dissuade you, it just struck me that YT isn't absolutely necessary if you wish to document your family on video for your own memories.

Good luck with your endeavours regardless!

I also vlog! (SmilingSammie)

Personally the reason I sub to vloggers is for THEM. Talk to us, show us you, your thoughts, your opinions, stay positive (this doesnt mean you cant dislike something but going on a 15 min rant is a downer ya know :P)
