I think physio would be good, you could probably get a private appointment really quickly. DH paid £50 and came away with a set of exercises to do

Another vote for private physio. I struggle with back, hip and pelvis issues and the physio is a godsend. I go weekly when my sacroiliac joint flares up and have 6 weekly maintenance sessions to reduce chance of flare-up
I’m in the South East and it’s around £40 an hour

I had sciatica about 3.5 years ago. I had to pay privately for an mri which diagnosed two bulging discs. I was in constant pain and couldn't manage every day tasks, painkillers didn't help. I had physio, saw a specialist privately, had two lots of pain blocker injections. I saw a PT and did a second lot of physio as well hydrotherapy.

The second injections helped, it was the first time I walked straight in 10months and then with less pain I started the extra physio etc.

I had been booked in for surgery twice but asked for a second mri as it felt better and I didn't need an op.

I've only had a couple of problems since and even did all the rides at universal pre covid in Feb 2020.

I was refused the first mri on the NHS and the GP wasn't really helpful either. I had to pay over £2500 to see a consultant, mri scans and the first injections but then suddenly after getting into the spinal unit at QMC the service was excellent.

Edited at 09:32 PM.

As a medical professional, it could be a number of things, but in the first instance I would pay to see a physio for an initial assessment and examination. This will usually help to work out where the problem is - it could be coming from a trapped nerve in the spine, it could be from any of the soft tissue structures around the hip, and examination will usually help to localise it.

The physio will also be able to suggest the right sort of exercises. Anyone who is a physiotherapist (this is a legally protected title by the way, so you know you are seeing a registered physio who has completed a recognised degree level programme rather then a massage/sports therapist or any other type of therapist) should be able to do this.

My husband has just got back from seeing the consultant. He has to have surgery because its scar tissue and bone fragments that it causing inflammation and pressing on the nerve. So its no wonder the physio didn’t work.
Be has already warned me that it means NO DIY and total rest 😂😂
