Always try not to deal with anyone online or in a call centre. Get the ceo email address and go straight there.

We had the same issue on RC using revolut.

I gave my amex card at the start. Then the last night of the sailing I wanted to settle my account with revolut. No problem, or so I thought. I paid and got a receipt and invoice showing balance 0. Then the next day my phone starts pinging from revolut showing pending charges.

In total I had €1700 in pending charges on my revolut card. I contacted RC they said don't worry it will be dropped in 3 days. (Apparently that is the case in the US, in Europe it can take 6 weeks!) I was still livid with them as I had settled my bill.

I showed this to revolut but there was nothing they could do. After 4 weeks they took the money from my account all 1700€. I got it back 2 weeks later when the pending charges were dropped.

Lesson learned never use a debit card or revolut on a cruise ship. I still don't understand what the cruiseline did though as I had already paid the balance on the last night on board.

Oh wow, that is a headache! Must be something to do with cruise ships then?

Regardless, I've now got a fee-free Virgin credit card specifically for using abroad. Annoyingly the initial limit isn't as much as we would usually spend on holiday, but we can supplement with cash.

Happens a lot with restaurants in the US too. As well as the bill and the tip, some of them take a shadow amount that then drops off. Fairfx had a lot of trouble with it a few years ago.

So sorry to hear this, it was very common for people who used debit cards or pre paid cards on the Staycations unfortunately.
We tried to tell as many people as possible on the FB group I was in, but of course, you shouldn't have to and you'll never reach everybody.

If you still wish to chase your complaint, or make a new one, please use this address: sgs@disneycruise.com

Best wishes
Joa

Just a quick thought, make sure your credit score hasn't been effected adversely by the late payment and charges? Just one missed payment can effect it! ☹.

I mentioned this to the DCL CM I spoke to, as well as the incurred fees. She didn't seem to be interested at all. Luckily it seems not to have affected that, but it's the principle.

Thank you. Haven't seen that address before. Is it a different department?

Very poor service and I’m sorry you have had to jump through hoops. But I never use a debit card for anything unless I absolutely have too.

Amex for everything, then nationwide cash back card if they don’t accept Amex.

Ohh will have to look for this one as my Virgin Atlantic one charges fees if you spend in $s. Was it just a standard virgin money one?
