How do you do the pre departure test to uk when the ship is heading to the uk (p&o)

As above really ..I presume you have to do the test 2 days before the ship returns to the uk but if your positive what happens as you will be going back to the uk anyway?

Weve just got back from a marella cruise, they did a fit to fly test on the ship the day before we came home which there was no charge for, ( maybe because the rules changed and we didnt have time to get one) a couple of people who we presumed tested positive got taken away in an ambulance to the local hospital ( the medics had full ppe on ) I'm guessing they would be quarantined there until there time was up

Same experience during the summer on a different cruise line - they did a lateral flow test free of charge or you could get a PCR test for a nominal charge if required and then printed the results so you could take with you to the airport in our case as were flying home from Greece

We’re on a p&o ship now and have been told we’ll have the pre-departure test free of charge on the way back. If we test positive then you have to isolate in specific cabins and then when arriving back in the Uk you can drive straight home, get a taxi (at your own expense) or isolate in a government hotel (presumably also at your own expense).
