Best Ice-cream Recipe

I bought a KitchenAid ice-cream mixer bowl for Christmas- thanks to Stanleycamel letting me know about the sale at Lakeland - it was a total bargain!.

I’m just wondering if anyone has a preferred recipe, I had a quick google and also a look at YouTube and it seems to be as simple as cream, sugar, milk, salt and vanilla essence (with other things like chocolate, fruit or cookie dough to be added at the end). I wondered if it was better to make a custard base instead? I would love any recommendations. 😁

My mum used to make brown bread ice cream, it was delicious, but sadly I’ve lost the recipe, it had lots of cream, egg yolk, brown sugar and brown bread crumbs, sounds strange but it was great.

I have a Ben and Jerrys ice cream recipe book……love their salted pecan recipe…..I’ll look out the base recipes if you want but you may be able to find it on a search?

Thank you! I have just had a quick google and found the base recipe. They have two versions- one with eggs and one without, I think I might try the egg free one first! 😁

I’ve always used the one with eggs, my book is a few years old and there’s two or three base recipes but none egg free…….but makes really nice ice cream…..

Greek yoghurt also makes a good base for ice cream.
