Is This Odd - House We Viewed

My son is ready to buy a house and invited us to a 2nd viewing of a house he likes, lovely house. But at one end of the downstairs hall is a huge 'cupboard', when we looked it had tiled floor and walls. Owner told us they believe a previous resident removed the fittings of a downstairs toilet to make a cupboard.
Surely most people are putting loos in, not taking them out? House has a number of other cupboards, including a really big understairs one.
Hopefully if son gets the house he can reinstate the loo without it costing to much (obviously his cash will go on a deposit to start)

I took the downstairs toilet out of my house. If you need the room it makes for plenty of storage. I needed a tack room
The person I sold that house to last year put the toilet back in

Everyone is different I suppose. My next door but one live in a 4 bed detached house (twenty years old so built with downstairs toilet). They can’t stand the thought of a toilet downstairs, they think it’s disgusting so they removed it and use it as a utility/storage space. They have loads of storage because only two people live there 😂

We have a late 1940's house and at the back of the small kitchen was a separate loo, coal house and storage room.

I smashed in to all of them and extended the kitchen out and thus ditched the loo.

However I capped off the waste pipe and I know where it was - nobody else will ever find it.

Ours is at the back of the house and we have french doors from the dining room. The back door also leads onto the garden with access to downstairs loo and utility which most importantly houses hubby’s beer fridge. 😀
A godsend for our young grandchildren.

We also had an old loo off the kitchen that had originally been an outside toilet and ripped it all out to extend the kitchen. When we tried to disconnect the water it wasn’t connected to our main house system and it caused fountain to shoot up. We couldn’t find the outside stopcock so contacted an elderly man who used to live here about a considerable number of years before (who now lived close by) to see if he knew. He arrived with a set of divining rods and walked up and down with them and eventually suggested we dig in one area “thas’ down theeyre” and it was. It turned out that the person who owned the house in between had put tarmac over it when making a path.

Don't think I would ever dream of looking for your waste pipe Tom

We have a garage but don’t want to keep outdoor expensive stuff in there such as tents, paddle boards, bikes, scooters etc, so I’ve started sticking it all ... yes you guessed it in the downstairs loo! Albeit the loo is still in there 😂😳.

I suppose it depends on what you need.

It was all gathering in the hall ways before I stuffed it behind the door.

I'd find it annoying but not that odd, it wouldn't put me off a house.
It's like when you view a house and they have ripped out the full bathroom to install a 'wet room' (not for disabled purposes, just because they think it is fancy). Deal breaker right there!
