I really enjoy the ride part of Earthquake at Universal but I feel the pre show part is really tired and old looking.
I think they need to get rid of the Charlton Heston section and the props section when they use audience participation and update this with a new special effects pre show.
What do you think?

Karen,

I'm with you on this one.

I enjoyed the subway ride at the end, but the pre-show stuff was a bit naff and dated.

Agreed. One thing that they did at HHN the one year, was to just do the subway bit and skip the boring bits .

I missed the preshow because I was waiting in the babyswap area with katie while Phil walked through the line,  so I can't comment on that bit - but I liked the ride bit -I thought it would be scary, but it was actually just really cool, although I was a little concerned that i was going to get soaked!

I don't know how true it is or where I read it but I read that they have now changed the pre show, not show how though.

I too like the ride but disliked the pre show. zzZZzzZZ .

.

I agree about the pre show and the ride is great, but I think they should try to keep Charlton Heston considering his retirement. The last of the greats.

I don't know what the pre-show was like before, but it's another of those infuriating 'please proceed through the doors and move all the way over' shows, with a demo of 'special effects' and how they are achieved, using audience participation (which wasn't even funny). The cast member then tells you what special effects to expect on the ride. A bit disappointing for the children, but a good ride none the less. One of our party was desparate for the little boys room as we queued for this ride, so we were glad to get on in the end (and all that water didn't help&#33.. .

The pre-show has been changed.  I usually switch off but I think they have done away with the Charlton Heston bit or at least shortened it.  They had also altered the audience participation bit and added new props.  I would still prefer just to do the ride bit.

Nah!
Ben Hur, or Moses, to the religious, is still there !! .

They have changed the audience participation, as I was one of the "pushers & pullers" of the escalatori n '95, but that's now been replaced by something just as naff! It must be scintillating as I can't even remember it!! The "jumper" is still there though!! (Quite surprised about that after 911)

Like MK, some old time cutting edge rides at Universal are showing their age, ie.(the late) Kong, Earthquake, Hitchcock, which are like Jungle Cruise, Pirates,  Swiss Family, although Universal seem to be more "on the ball" with changes than Disney, as far as rides are concerned, at the moment IMO.

This has just made me think. (wow!&#33.

Slightly offthread!!

It looks like Adventureland, IMO needs a thorough overhaul. What have you got? A walkaround fake tree, a sail around fake river, with fake animals that require a very good driver to make it enjoyable and a sail around dark boat ride with limited animatronics. Granted, they've just introduced Aladdin into the fray, but that's hardly cutting edge!!

What do you think?

If Fantasyland's mainly fot the little'uns, what's Swiss Family doing anyway?

Again, what do you think?

The best thing about Adventureland is the Pineapple Swirl with juice!!! .
