Mobile Disney Half Marathon weekend - How busy are the parks?

I’ve just realised that our first day in Magic Kingdom (next Saturday) is the half marathon event. I’m assuming the parks are all still open like normal?!
Has anyone been before and can comment on how busy the parks are? I’m thinking either most people are watching the run so the rides are very quiet, or the complete opposite and the parks will be rammed with extra people watching the run and the regular amount of people using rides!

I was there for marathon weekend in November last year, the actual running takes place very early morning before the official park opening time. What I did notice though, was that Magic Kingdom was very busy in the afternoon/evening on marathon days, with lots of runners with their medals, enjoying some downtime after their efforts.
