1st trip planning advice
We (me, husband, 9 & 10 year old) are making our first trip to Orlando this year. I'm totally bamboozled as to the best way to plan our day in each park. I've looked at undercover tourist touring plans and checked their crowd calendar
& busy day day guides here. Is it best to plan which rides we want to go on and when and then try and get fast passes which fit in with that or the other way around? I feel like I'm going round in circles and not getting anywhere fast! Any help/advice from people who've done this before would be so gratefully appreciated - I cant see the wood for the trees. |

I took out an annual subscription with Touring Plans for our 2017 trip and I’ve done the same for this year’s trip. It’s really easy to make a ‘touring plan’ for each day and park and because it shows the expected standby wait time for each attraction you add, it’s easy to choose which to Fastpass. Touring Plans also suggests which rides to Fastpass based on your plan. If you’re a planner, it really does take the headache out of the process I think. You have to be prepared to be flexible on the day, but all in all, the plans I created worked really well and stopped us dithering about where to go or what to do next.

Are you staying on site or off site?
Best thing to do is plan what parks you'll aim for on which days and then which rides you want to fast pass you don't need to plan your actual day of you want to but it's usually a good idea to have a strategy for first ride or two of the day so you know where your heading when you first arrive. Main thing is don't let it overwhelm you, there is a lot of information out there but also thousands of people have great holidays every year having not read any of it! |

We're offsite so will have to wait to book fastpass. I'm getting rather overwhelmed by the amount of information is out there so thank you for the reminder!

I tend to look at the crowd predictors and make a plan for which park on which day. Then I decide am I going early late. . At 30 day the fast pass availability may dictate your plan a bit. I use Touring plans for a rough idea of which rides and preferred fast pass times but don't fill every minute, don't fill the day.
You need to be flexible or its too stressful and you'll miss the random moments/spontaneous meet and greats. Touring plans or similar sites may suggest fast passes for rides other than our most preferred- based on the plan trying to save you time . I'm more likely to fast pass our must do's rather than their suggestions. Things change, rides go down, people get sick, park hours change so I want my fast passes for my must do's. For example if test track is down at rope drop and the plan tells us to go to there at rope drop and I don't have a fast pass its not likely I'll get on. If its down during my fast pass time I can come back later. If the planning is too much just pick your park for each day book your must do fastpasses and wing the rest. Just look at a park map so you aren't bouncing across the park with the fast pass choices. |
