Adult DDP for child
We have a 7yo with us on our trip & have free DDP. Is it possible to upgrade her to an adult ticket to get the adult plan? For the sake of $20 for 2 weeks, if it's possible, it would be good for her to have a larger choice of food at TS meals

isn't the DDP linked to the room occupancy plus ticket package rather than just the ticket,so I presume u cant book it as u'll have x adults & x children already booked into the room?

As far as I know from what other dibbers have posted in the past if you have a hotel/tix package through disney direct it is possible to pay for an adult tix for your child- they can change the age on the booking and therefore get the adult dining plan credits. However if you have flight as part of the package you have booked it is not possible as the age had to be correct.

Just be aware it could potentially cost more than $20 due to tipping. Say you go to a set price restaurant, eg, character buffet, you would be paying for 3 adult buffets rather than 2 adults + 1 child. Therefore your overall bill will be higher meaning a higher tip. Just something to consider.

Simple answer is yes, see post above with reference to flight inclusive packages.

We looked at doing this for our trip this year, dd will be almost 10 and likes a wide variety of food so sounded ideal.
Before changing though we picked out all of our ADRs and looked at the menus. For the buffets it makes no difference and you’ll pay the extra in tips and for the others dd was picking items off the kids menu anyway so we decided not to change it. |

We’ve done it every year for our children. We pay for them to have kids meals in some restaurants and this allows us to eat in more places - mainly the 2 credit ones.
We always book flights separately as this is the only part that prevents you doing it. It does put your tip up in the buffet places as they charge them as adults. Overall we eat more meals due to the way we do it and this puts our tip costs up too. |

I did this once some years ago when my son was 9. I had booked Disney hotel/tickets with Disney and flights separately. We are at 5 buffets so that part was a waste of money but he ate 9 adult meals as well and got his money’s worth on that part. It’s a shame you can’t do it the other way. My 17 year old DD still eats many kids meals now 🙄
