Got an appointment for Covid jab!
As above, I received a notification on my phone from our GP surgery inviting me to make an appointment at a local minor injuries hospital (where they have set up). My appointment is next Saturday. The strange thing is i’m only 49, no serious health concerns (touch wood). DH is 5 years older than me and hasn’t been contacted, so we’re trying to work out how i’ve been invited before him! Do they take into account family history (my father had heart disease & diabetes, 2 of my sisters have Cancer - would this have been a likely factor or not do you think?

I’ve got no idea, sorry, but I’m glad you are getting your vaccine. I love hearing people are getting them, it makes me feel positive. Hopefully I’ll get mine too in the next couple of weeks.

No I don’t think they look that much into it.
It’s just one of these things I think. If it were you with certain conditions then yes but don’t think they look at family. I had mine over two weeks ago, hubby is 4 years older he hasn’t but that’s because it’s on my record I’m an “unpaid” carer.

We got a similar phone call on Friday for dh. He’s 46 so wasn’t expecting it. He’s booked in for next week. I’ve had mine at work already (nhs). This takes us a little step closer to holiday

No I definitely don’t think family history comes into it. There wouldn’t possibly be the time to have scrutinised family medical history, most people’s family medical records won’t even be connected.
They have perhaps made decent progress in your area, so your husband could just try booking a slot. If they are not up to 54 year olds in the area, then he won’t be allowed to book and maybe you were invited as a glitch. nhs.uk/conditions/corona...s-vaccination/ |
