Final payment query

Hi all,

I know this topic has been covered a bit but for some reason the search function doesn't seem to be finding what I need.
We've had our contract pass ROFR and we're just waiting for the estoppel to go through so it's nearly time to pay the big payment.

I'm just wondering what people tend to do and who they use to pay the big bill.

Ours is going to be roughly $30600 and I had used fairfx initially for the deposit. They we're very helpful with this and have set me an account where I am able to send large payments such as this.

However the rate is pretty good right now and i'm thinking is it worth buying the USD and holding until the resale company require it or just waiting until it's requested and pay on the day?

Has anyone "held" money before? Obviously i'm a little nervous due to the large amount of money changing hands and also the fact that the dollar is pretty "good" right now could save us a few hundred.

I used Currencies Direct, you can buy in advance and hold $ in your account until the closing agent is ready. When you set up your payee with currencies direct you have to specify with the account manager you are allocated that you want 'wire transfer'.

I used XE, but at the time the exchange rate was appalling so it didn't really matter. I didn't time things well.

For me that carries more risk, so I wouldn’t bother.
Rate could go up or down a bit- if we knew we would be currency traders. It may be better when it comes to the final payment- who knows? I wouldn’t get hung up over it.
I used XE for all 4 contracts. Watch out as some on here have had problems with Fair FX not going through I think on the main payment, do a search on here to get details.
