Well I have £2.5k deposit with OF so I really can't afford to loose that as you can imagine.

Goodness me that's a crazy amount when flight prices aren't even out. It's just full out taking the ****. I don't know what you can do as I am not very familiar with agents and their T&Cs but this sounds to me like one that would get a response from consumer advocates.

I would suggest pricing up the same holiday for next year with alternative agents just to ascertain if OF are taking the mick. I did this prior to approaching them for a change of price dates, and provided them with the quote.

FYI we had to move our package with Virgin Holidays from August last year to this year and I've also asked for quotes to move again to 2022 when we were unsure what to do.

Pricing up next years dates they said it would be an increase of £1.5k across 14 people. The package is flights, car hire, and 1 night in Universal hotel. Hopefully this can give you an idea of what the airlines are quoting x

I don’t mean to sound pessimistic but, are you due to go around July? There’s a strong possibility that holidays to US will not be going by then so please don’t panic just yet. You will probably receive a full refund and have stressed lots over something that may not need stressing about. X

i would wait and get full refund and rebook elsewhere or wait till sales around xmas.
To change our virgin holiday from may to oct is nearly double to alter in price, yet i can get a virgin flt same hotel for what i have paid now, so when cancelled by virgin will get a full refund this time.

But on the flip side, August is ages away and likely to be open so you could be expected to travel regardless of restrictions, testing or quarantine.

By paying the balance you risk losing a lot more than your deposit if you choose not to go. Ask what your options will be if you pay up.
