Alton Towers actually already reopened about a week ago, but only to view the gardens.

I read on the website that hotel guests don't have to pre-book a place.
They can just turn up at the turn style with valid ticket and reservation proof.

So glad as being an AP member was a bit annoyed to pay £18 to book for our 2 trips especially as our AP included the Dungeon and that is closed.

So happy our trip can go ahead in August and October.

Yes it’s great . We have merlin passes so I’m also glad we don’t have to pre book this time and that next time I will but don’t have to pay like Chessington

Great news, thanks for sharing.

I thought I had reserved two spots for Sunday 5th, but I think I've done it wrong as the annual passholder should have been £1 each and I didn't pay that. Now there seems to be nothing available. I'll have to contact them and see if we're able to go or not.

No passholder tickets were free to reserve , it was Legoland and Chessington who charged the £1 .
Did you get a confirmation email?

Yes I got the confirmation email. But then I also managed to book a passholder reservation for two weeks later which I was charged the £1 each for.

I'm confused now, but either way I should be able to go once and with any luck twice. Will see what they say when they get back to me.

That’s why it says ‘Theme Park’ and Not Gardens

It’s also why the first line of the article also says “Following the successful opening of the Alton Towers gardens on 6th June”

I hadn't actually read the article at that point.

I was just being "helpful" in mentioning that Alton Towers was already open - including the theme park. Of course, you can't go on any rides at the moment but you can walk around the theme park and watch them testing the rides. And also walk around the gardens in the middle of the theme park too.

Plus, there was a smiley face at the end of my post.

(Yes, I'm being pedantic. I apologise. I'm not criticising the original article. Thanks for the post and the information. )
