We go out on 18 Aug to SFO and finish in Vegas from 31st until we leave on the 2nd of Sept.
In Vegas we have planned...
A long walk up the strip.
Hooters
Pawn stars shop
No1 attraction.. Heart Attack Grill, my boys (15 & 18) want to be spanked by a Nurse.. although I strongly suspect that they are in fact, waitresses.

We will be staying in the Newyorknewyork, having driven up from Tucson via Winslow, Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. It is our first Vegas visit.

I am not so sure about loving it. It simply seemed a good place to end after seeing the Grand Canyon. On the surface, it would not seem our type of place, but you don’t know until you try things.

Our pre trip plan is linked in our signature. You will see that the fortnight covers SFO (Love tour and Ghost tour), Monterey (Whale watch and Aquarium) PCH for Big Sur, Pfeiffer Burns etc (Mudslide prevented it last time), Madonna Inn, Pismo Beach, Solvang, Hollywood (for Universal and Warner Bros), Tucson (for the Desert Boneyard), Tombstone (Gunfight and Horse riding), Winslow (for the corner), Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam... and then Vegas.

Hooters, I will look in to. It is not a big deal either way. We have been in plenty of others!

We’ve been twice before. Once was just as they were building the Mandalay Bay and I was staying in Luxor. I really liked Vegas then. It was cheap everywhere and not as seedy I didn’t think. They had cleared the ground for the Venetian and we looked at a model room. No Bellagio, Paris, etc. Wasn’t as busy. I hit a jackpot on a fruit machine as I didn’t have much money it came in very handy as it paid for the room for 5 nights (we extended by a night).
Next time we flew into Vegas and had a few nights in Paris before setting off on a road trip through Arizona, Nevada and Utah. The place had suddenly become hyper busy and expensive. This was when many more hotels were open. There were also card men on the pavements thrusting escort girl cards at you- Mrs YT wasn’t overtly impressed. We had a wonderful holiday, but Vegas wasn’t really the wonderful bit, it was all the national and state parks we visited.
Like you CFB I have booked it as a base for a day trip to Grand Canyon as I really want to go back there as it really does exceed expectations if you get to South Rim. I thought I’d see how Vegas has changed yet again as I bet it’s 20 years since we were last there and vast amounts has been built since we were last there. But I’m expecting to feel a little relief when we set off to Palm Springs.

Fly to NYC 14 august then internal flights to Denver and drive from there to LA via Yellowstone, SLC, Vegas etc. Hoping we get more clarity next week about holidays not enjoying all the uncertainty
