Stobart Air sold for £2 - possibly affecting travel via Dublin after 2023

It was announced yesterday that Stobart Air has been sold for £2 to a 26 year old entrepeneur, Stobart's contract with Aer Lingus finishes in 2022 and the new contract for 2023 has been awarded to Emerald Airlines. How this will affect trips to the US via Dublin in the future isn't clear from 2023 onwards.

Carlisle Airport was also sold to allow Stobart Air to concentrate on their Southend Airport operation.

It sounds a bit like that Antiques Roadshow question with the perrenial answer of £2 and a car boot sale.

£2.00😳

Wonder what liabilities transferred at the same time. Suspect fairly robust. Good luck to him.

Wonder how this could impact Teesside airport as Stobart has a share in it

Think they said this summer

And getting it for £2 is an improvement on the old practice of a quid I suppose. I imagine as FGWales alludes to that the liabilities are eye watering.
