UK Car Hire

Thinking of doing a one way car hire from Bristol to Gatwick. We have two small kids, and think it may be easier than getting taxi and coach. Also they could stay in school all day and we could leave when they get home which would be much easier and nicer for mummy and daddy.

My question is, has anybody done one way car rental and experiences?

We want a car rental drop off quite close to the terminal, not sure whether they exist.

Any advice would be so gratefully appreciated.

I've never done it but I know when my dad had to do a one way rental leaving the car at an airport he was only able to hire it from an airport, not sure if this would be an issue for you. It was for my Dad! x

Hi we did this last year. Swindon to Gatwick & then again on our return. It was about £55 each rental with Avis plus we had to fill the car up when we got to Gatwick. Think it's their airport transfer service if you look online? I also got cashback from Topcashback.
It was an easy process & the car rental drop off & pick up is righg next to the terminal. The only downsides are I think it's quite a bit more if you don't want high excesses & make sure you check the mileage against the paperwork & get confirmation when you drop off/the car gets collected. We got stung for extra mileage on our return journey! We knew we hadn't done it but had no proof as stupidly hadn't checked the mileage when we got in & they didn't give my husband a receipt when they collected from his work.

Think we will be booking again this year but DH is under strict instructions to check mileage & get confirmation when they collect!

Forgot to say we had a Peugeot 308 going & a Kia ceed on the way home. There's only 3 of us so you may want something a bit larger which would obviously cost more.
