Mobile How strong is the sun in April?

Going shopping on the weekend for toiletries including sun cream. I have a bee in my bonnet about using factor 50 in this country as it's been linked with an increase in rickets in children. But what about in Florida in April? Will we need factor 50 or will 30 be sufficient? My kids are mixed race and neither they or their dad have ever burned - even in Cyprus in the height of summer. I, on the other hand, am blonde and fair skinned so I think I might need it!

Any recommendations on which ones to buy or avoid? We usually get boots soltan.

The UV index in Florida in April is higher than it is in the UK in the summer. For fair skin definitely a high factor.

Depends how long and often you are sitting by the pool . I usually take 3 bottles. Sometimes we don't use that much. Esp if it clouds up during the afternoon. We never seem to catch the sun while we are walking round the parks.

best to lather it on, nothing ruins a holiday more than bad sunburn, we take 1 bottle or spray with us and buy more at walmart, buying most of our toiletries there this time and packing light

Florida has an average UV index of 7 or 8 in April. The sun is a lot stronger than the UK's summer. If you wear factor 50 in the UK then I would do the same in the US.

Boots Soltan, Sainsburys and Asda own brand suncream all have 5 star UV protection.

Enjoy your holiday shopping
