We did a park on our first family visit and all said that actually we didn’t enjoy it the heat killed us, we were tired and didn’t really remember too much of what we did.

So first day for us now has to be a chill day, shopping, pool and an early dinner. We’ve done an afternoon in Disney springs which is what we are planning this year however I quite like the water park idea.

Hi. In the past we have stayed in a villa for 3 weeks and our first day would be Sunday. Our routine is early breakfast at villa watching the sun come up sat around the pool then traditionaly off to Celebration for a nice slow walk around the lake before lunch and then ice cream.

That changes though on our next trip as staying on site for 2 weeks so definitely park for first day and most likely Epcot.

Everybody is different.

We’ve found through experience that we like to have at least a couple of days R&R on arrival. We go to the beach, pool, dinner etc. But then, we don’t immediately go to Orlando either, we tend to start on the Gulf Coast.

Previously we did MK on our first day. Enjoyed it, but it was a struggle at times. Last visit, we had the time of our lives as we were all ready for it.

We always stay in a Disney hotel and have retained our first trip first day routine for the subsequent 10 visits. Up insanely early, front of the rope drop queue at Magic Kingdom, ride favourite attractions until a lunchtime ADR at Crystal Palace followed by Mainstreet USA shopping and the afternoon parade. Then it’s off to the pool for a relax for the evening. We will ride all four mountains, Buzz, Haunted Mansion and Pirates and probably the Laugh Floor. I’d never not do a park in our first day as we are awake so early even the teens!

We like to book an early breakfast usually chef mickeys and then make the most of our day. When my son was younger however on our first trip we took the first day as a pool day but we did stay in a villa. We did the shop and generally just chilled out. He was 2 at the time so worked really well for us.

I'm in the must be MK first day camp-full throttle! usually to mid afternoon and tiredness kicks in.

Every time we've always done Crystal Palace breakfast ADR before opening time, the feeling of walking down a very quiet main street is quite a magical start to a holiday.

MK first day is a tradition of ours too. We'll be there early-ish - not for rope drop and stay until after the fireworks. I can sleep when I get home LOL

We go to the park the first day if staying at or near Disney we would do Animal Kingdom. This year we are staying on site at Universal so we are going to the Studios. I prefer leaving the bigger parks Magic Kingdom and EPCOT till over the jet lag. Going to Universal Studios first day was an easy choice to make as we are walking distance when the jet lag kicks in later in the day.

We would normally do an early start, but it looks like our first day in August will be a mnsshp day, so now we will have lazy start and a late finish. Hopefully we won't be too tired...

We also have the MK tradition on the first morning but have a nice breakfast first, last trip we had breakfast at The Wave in the Contemporary which was really relaxed with good food.
