We love Lake Buena Vista. A lot of the hotels have shuttles. There is also the Crossroads with all the restaurants. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency and was walkable to restaurants but we still drove. LBV is great as it's just around the corner from Disney Springs. Can't Imagine not having a Car in Orlando unless your in the Disney bubble

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your input. I think LBV will be a good choice for me. I am making a shortlist of hotels & may seek some further help from you wonderful Dibbers.

Sadly I think I'll have to seriously consider a scooter just for park days. I expect it will make a huge difference even on none park/scooter days as the build up over days makes things worse.

We won't go until Feb 2020 (subject to Galaxy's Edge being open) but getting excited already

Before buying DVC we always stayed in LBV, if you are on Palm Parkway then the Lynx 50 passes there in both directions, so a short hop to Disney Springs Superstop or change at SeaWorld in the other direction. Most LBV hotels will do transport to Disney but not too sure about Universal. also some nice hotels on hotel boulevard but you will pay a bit more as you are "on property", Buena vista palace was really nice. Plenty of good restaurants in LBV/Crossroads plus 2 decent sized supermarkets.

I have bad arthritis in my knees and hips and although I can walk a wee bit I’ve hired a scooter on my last two visits and I have enjoyed everything so much more than when trying to walk it and I don’t have to worry about not being able to walk the next day!

I suffer from plantar fasciitis which can cause a lot of pain if it flares up. I find that doing the parks for half a day at a time and then chilling out before heading over to maybe Disney Springs on an evening worked for me. I stayed at SSR which is walking distance from DS but I know that B-Hotel and the Hilton Buena Vista are also walking distance if you want an off-property option.

We loved the LBV resort and the shuttle buses worked really well to all sorts of places. Lots of Uber cars too.

It's a nightmare isn't it! I did manage about 5 miles a day but by the end I was in a lot of pain & walking at a snails pace I was then in pain most of the night. Time to make the change.

Thanks Budget wise will need to be off-property. I have been looking at the Hilton. I will check out the others.
