Pretty sure most of us pre-pay, it's cheaper! Back to the drawing board...

The joys of Alamo! The system is crazy and so confusing.

If I were you guys I'd just print off your barcode and "risk it" as many others do.

I have "risked it" on at least 6 occasions. The only time I ever used the KIOSK it would not work with a UK licence.

The Alamo information is a mess, in addition to telling you to go to the desk for paperwork you already have it also tells you to pick up the keys at the desk.

WRONG WRONG WRONG!

I will be chancing it again in May.

that sounds like typical Alamo, surely it would make more sense to be the other way round

Agreed.

I for one have done the procedure as they state as to avoid any mishaps! The system is clearly a mess and basically I don't want have any issues when I arrive after a long flight.

I guess I'm over-cautious.

There appears to be some very confusing answers in this thread.

The official line is your supposed to do skip the counter so you can go straight to the garage.
But some people go straight to the garage after they have done savetime as long as they have a printed barcode.

Savetime comes before skip the counter on the alamo system, but most of the time the staff just overlook it.
However some people have mentioned being pulled for doing this.

Some people say you must book direct with alamo to do skip the counter..Wrong I never booked direct and have completed skip the counter.

Some people say you must pay on arrival to skip the counter Wrong I paid in advance.

Oh great, that just confuses things even more!

Why are Alamo staff and the website telling us this is the case then?!

Absolutely mind-boggling!

I realy dont know why people are struggling I just sailed through the process.

And as for info from alamo I dont think half there staff know what is right and wrong when it comes to international renters, I think that is where all the confusion comes from

The 'DIBB thing' for MCO has always been Paperwork with Barcode = Straight to Garage.

No point in going to desk/kiosk for paperwork and keys because the paperwork is in your hand and the keys are in the cars.

Alamo has really confused things with this new(?) step, but I guess if it's clear enough in your email chain from them then it's no big deal to do it all before you fly. I'll certainly make sure to read all the confirmation emails thoroughly for any pointers.
