Reward flights question

Hi

I'm about to book some flights to Orlando for next January. Availability is showing in all classes for my dates, however as we would like to travel premium economy can we book economy now then use our reward pe vouchers (which are due in October) to upgrade at that time? Maybe a very silly question . I know there would probably be a fee.

There would need to be reward seat availability on your dates come October to be able to upgrade. I also think you would need to have a ticket class that allows you to upgrade (usually a lot more expensive anyway).

Do you want to book your economy seat now using miles? If so it will be possible to upgrade using your vouchers when they come through, as long as there is availability in PE as loola30 says.

If you are booking now using miles you don't need to worry about having a ticket that allows you to upgrade, that is only if you are paying cash.

Thanks both of you. Yes I want to book now. We have enough miles for pe return but I really don't want to use that amount of miles if I can use reward upgrade vouchers. It's whether I take the risk that there would be any PE availability in October. Decisions decisions 😳

As pointed out above the issue will be is whether there are any PE upgrades still left in October.

I booked last night but decided we wanted the guarantee of premium economy both ways. Ended up with outbound using PE upgrade vouchers and inbound miles premium economy. So instead of 50k miles it was 70k miles so I'm happy . Thanks for your help.

Nb. if anyone's looking for reward flights in January there seems to be lots of availability in all classes!
