Car rental insurance

Morning, I have booked a car through Vehicle Rent - Europcar. Can someone have a look at this and see if I need to buy additional insurance please.

I have only ever used Car on the drive, but as I am flying into Miami, I didn't think they would come all that way and pick us up

I booked an SUV for 13 nights for £400 in July, picking up in Miami and dropping off in MCO. Looking at the prices for car hire now, this seems very cheap and I am wondering if I am going to be charged extra when I pick the car up.

Seems fine to me. The usual vague wording ref tax where they use the abbreviations VAT but they then explain elsewhere that tax is included but not on any extras you buy.
Aiport fee is also included so good to go.
Nice to see the $1.000.000 SLI (TPI) is shown as well.

Just be wary of the hard sell at the desk where they will bully and lie to you.

I have just read another report about having to take their Toll Device, surely I can just pay cash at the tolls? Will the tolls from Miami to Orlando accept cash?

This is also on their booking form.

I'm not an expert on the Miami area but somebody will pop on who is.

I know you can totally avoid the toll roads on that route albeit it's a longer drive.
I do know there are unmanned tolls in the Miami area so you may get caught out and have to pay for the pre payable service.
Sad to say this is the problem with Europcar. Don't rush in yet until a Miami toll expert pops on.

I wouldn't call myself an expert on Miami toll roads, but I do know that all tolls booths in Miami-Dade County are cashless. Road users must use a Sunpass toll device.

The major road north out of Miami is the Florida Turnpike and if you intend to use this route you will need a Sunpass either through your hire company or by purchasing a mini-transponder before you set off. These can be bought at Publix Supermarkets, CVS, Walgreens and some other retail shops. However, after a long flight and in a busy city which you are unfamiliar with, it probably isn't very practical to find your own Sunpass.

You can drive up to the Orlando area using non-toll roads such as the US27 or the more scenic US-1 coast road but these routes will be slower and you will need to be careful not to take a wrong turn and find yourself on a toll road by accident heading out of Miami or you will be back to square one.

Hope that helps

Debra

Thanks Debra,

This might be why the car hire was so cheap! There is a big difference between $6.99 & $23.99 per day! Are there many tolls along the way?

Toll Devices
The toll device fee is US$6.99–23.99 per day.
You have the following options to pay for road toll fees:
Decline Supplier's toll service and pay a penalty fee of US$25 for every toll used during your rental

Dawn. Have you actually booked this car yet? If not I would rethink it.
Even Dollar is better value for tolls and they are a rip off.

I have only paid a £10 deposit and then got £397 to pay on the day. I have looked into cancelling the booking, but the prices for an SUV for 2 weeks over Easter is coming out so expensive. Im not really sure what to do for the best

What are your exact dates? Miami to Miami?

Just a quick guess on dates and I can find an Alamo standard SUV for £436.
