I would say either you’ve been very lucky to not be charged to stay at a UK hotel, or I’ve been very unlucky. We’ve never stayed in a UK hotel where we’ve had free parking.
I work in a theatre... it was £15 a day.. 6 days a week because the season tickets didn’t cover my working hours. You could only get one at the time for Monday - Friday day working. It wouldn’t cover evenings or weekends. It would be lovely if they could offer it for free and as part of the ticket price, but I think they want more people using what they provide, so of course they’ll charge for parking. A parking pass would be a great idea

An attractive offer for UK visitors would be if they sold the Ultimate tickets with a parking option (cheaper than the gate price) but considering all their recent losses, I can’t see Disney offering this anytime soon. 🙁

Is it per day or per night for resort guests? We were using my mums DVC last time we went so didn't pay at all. If its per night (as I'm sure RPR was) its not so bad? I mean it's still rubbish but a bit better. We are planning using DME and not having the car for the first few days then collecting from Disney Car Care in time for moving to a villa.

I think you've been unlucky. I've only ever once paid for parking in the UK for a hotel stay and that was a Travelodge in York where you had to use a public car park. I imagine cheaper chain hotels in city centres may be similar due to lack of space but that's not the type of place we usually stay.
I think a parking pass would be much fairer. We've stayed onsite dozens of times and I must admit that the new charge for parking has been the final nail in the coffin for us. We won't stay onsite at Disney again, I feel they have gotten very greedy in a way they weren't back in the 80's and 90's when I started visiting. |

I have never paid for parking at a hotel in the UK. If the hotel I was looking at charged for parking, I would choose another.
Likewise, if I rent a cottage in the UK, if there is not parking available and included, I choose somewhere else. There is so much competition that, unless it cost less per night after parking than the alternative with parking, I just would not book. Disney gets away with charging hotel guests because people want to be fully immersed in the experience, regardless of price. If I were staying on-site I would include this in my "package" cost. I am not staying on site next year so there is no chance that I selected a hotel that makes you pay for parking.

My thoughts in regards to parking charges are this is the only way they can garner any income from empty tarmac. They need to provide parking otherwise guests would not visit, however they can't have something taking up a large amount of space for nothing.
Personally I think they would be better off building multiple multi-story car parks (like at DS), charging a lower rate (as less area not being used to make money another way), and utilising the remaining area for other purposes (be it another World of Disney'esque shop or QCS dining). This option would also be more user friendly potentially as there would not be 15 lots, rather 2 or 3. Meaning transportation costs for Disney between park and parking lot would also be reduced.

I really don't get this - parking is parking. What you do once parked is not related to the need to park.
I totally get annoyance at $25 to park somewhere that is also charging you to visit and has woeful public transport options, but I'm annoyed for that reason, not for an unrelated park-hop reason |
