I binned the leaflet, I thought it was a scam. I can’t imagine how that can be enforced. Maybe it will be a requirement when homes are sold and will need to be included in the home report.

I guess you will have to tick a box on Home Insurance to day you have complied otherwise you wont get cover ? It’s what I have to do in my apartment regarding smoke and heat alarms - it’s seems to work well and helps Saves lives (which is the aim)

I never thought about home insurance. I’ve got a carbon monoxide detector and smoke alarms. I’ll need to look into it and see what is required.

I have taken the plunge and bought was I need to comply. As its Amazon prime day and I have credit with them they had just what I needed. I bought Fire Angel pro equipment which is 10 year battery interconnected. They have them at £37.49 each instead of £50+.

The post was not intended to be political either small or big p. The new law was introduced directly as a consequence of Grenfell. Its pretty much unenforcable for owner occupied houses until it comes time to sell when the house report will require it.

It will be enforceable much more easily for tennanted properties.

The insurance question is more difficult as it depends on the questions asked by individual companies. However given insurance companies look for angles not to pay then I imagine they will insist that all legal requirements are met.

Shocking sales tactics in my opinion. How many people will see this and panic. It is life safety and a must in many buildings but private dwellings that already have smoke detectors giving 75db at bed head? I believe this needs to be looked at. My personal opinion.

I understand your point and personally I don't like sales companies trying to look like its an offical document. However the fact is that all private dwellings in Scotland will legally have to comply by end of Feb 2021.

I won't go over again the reality of what will happen.

That's the leaflet I received today as well. Aico look like a supplier/installer to me. Have tried to look at their website to ascertain cost of installation but the website only gets so far. Maybe it's broke due to the number of enquiries.
