You don't have to buy it and therefore don't have to drink it.

For those that do, then they are getting a better priced product than normal, so will hopefully enjoy the drinks even more!

People can drink without getting drunk, it's called being sensible and the vast majority of the population are exactly that so why not take advantage of cheaper alcohol. However having said that if someone wants to get drunk and is harming no one than what's the issue.

I think the emergency services might disagree with you about sensible drinking over Christmas. When my brother was a policeman he dreaded the Christmas period because of the increase in accidents, assaults and domestic abuse due to alcohol. I don't have an issue with people having a drink though. I have an issue with it being associated with Christmas.
