Hey ho I'm retired now so don't care.

And whilst I am at it do I put a full stop after the question mark.

Oh heck I'm going for a lie down now.
It's brackets with me. I can't remember if the full stop goes before or after the closing bracket. I think it's after but then it's before if it's a question mark and a question mark replaces a full stop generally!

Auto correct actually did that for me and I had to put the ' in myself 😊
apostrophes would not contain an apostrophe unless you are talking about the qualities of an apostrophe... "The apostrophe's size meant that it stood out as a glaring error."

(crap grammar and ridiculous repetition of the word apostrophe, I know... I'm off to work...)

Gosh a thread I'm really enjoying. Could we also bring in Comma's ?
Only thing I can remember that made a bit of sense about them was put one in a sentence where you naturally take a breath or want to isolate a word or phrase before continuing said sentence

Ok but what about colons and semi-colons? They are a bit of a mystery really aren't they? Well they are to me anyway. I like a - which I suspect I use when I should really use commas.

This is me!
The downside of leaving school at 15!

I shove commas all over the place.

Thinking back I drove a Commer back in the 1970's. Horrible van.

You pop apostrophes (doesn't apostrophies look nicer) everywhere and hope for the best? I shall now be checking your posts like a nineteenth century school marm. You can scatter commas to your heart's content though, even better if they make up a pattern. 😂

You should have learned English grammar at Junior school, well I did. That's why I can't remember it. All you missed out on in English was reading and writing about some prescribed books, some good, some bad and always some Shakespeare.

Did they call English lessons English in Wales? Just thought of that.

I never understood grammar at school and failed my o level, still don't fully understand the rules and have made it up as I have gone along in life...

Reminds me..., did you hear about the criminal found guilty of not using the comma when writing?

He received a long sentence !

Happy Xmas cracker season to OP and all.
