Rope drop every day. I am not a morning person but this is one thing worth getting up for! Would rather nap in the middle of the day when it's hot and busy. I have heard someone say that the first hour and last hour the parks are open are the most productive, and if you make sure you are there for these 2 you can almost skip the rest... I think it is true.

Agree 100%. If I do rope drop or even better extra hours.. We normally hit 8 or 10 rides/attraction by lunch and call it a day and go nap/chill by the pool till the evening. For me those first 2 hours are VITAL! 80% of the day happens between 8-10for us!

We have only been to WDW 3 times each about 15-17 days holiday, but not staying onsite, but private villa. Year one - up early every day at the parks 9.30 -10am, stayed all day home early evening most nights. Went back for fireworks etc several evening, 14 days out of villa, exhausted especially with the heat, no time to enjoy the pool and villa.
Year 2 a little more relaxed not out so early, home early afternoon several days stay + water park days.
Year 3 even more relaxed 17 days - didn't go to the parks till after lunch at villa, home late evenings and or after fireworks. Dinner at the parks. Worked so very much better for us, plus I'm the only early riser the rest can stay in bed till the cows come home! Early morning cuppa round the pool watching the wildlife passing by, sheer heaven for me. But, everyone has their own preferences on holiday especially at 'the happy place' its whatever suits you and your family to get the most enjoyment out of these special holidays,

We only managed super early starts every day of our first ever WDW holiday.

Since then we’ve done early starts the first few days only (mainly due to jet lag). Then we chill a bit for the rest. We’ll be in the parks from 9:30ish at the very earliest after that.

We love late nights though and are big fans of EMH in the evenings so we tend not to have the energy to be getting up super early as well.

We’ve only ever stayed onsite but rarely have we made EMH mornings.

That's pretty much our plan, nearly always the rope drop and early finish, relax then latish dinner
