Not wishing to sound snooty, crumbs, I drive a 6 year old Skoda now valued around £7K, but it's still show room condition.
I would use Valet parking for a Skoda and hope it was written off

That's a great price. If you do a web search for official Gatwick parking voucher codes there are a couple of codes that should work for 10% valet parking up front (no need for cash back). Two codes that works are VANRTN and VASRTN (valet parking only).

I used such a code a couple of weeks ago I booked our Gatwick parking (south terminal official valet) for our coming trip from tomorrow evening for 17 days parking for £90 (it was £99 before 10%) as well as our November trip for 19 days for £98 after 10% discount.

Worth a look if you're willing to pay a tiny bit extra for official valet - the code should bring the valet parking pretty close to self-parking official long stay (at least at the south terminal).

We used the purple car parking company at Heathrow in 2015 and retrieved our car in a bit of a state, covered in mud and the brakes were very squeaky, they were fine when we dropped the car off. Ended up having to pay around £200 to sort the brakes out afterwards.

We don't part with our keys now, no way!

We gave up on parking at airports after several very poor experiences with valet and Purple Parking. Now it's train to the airport the night before and an airport car service home.
I'm afraid I can't join in with the expensive car chat - I drive an elderly and much loved Honda CRV.

great! just picked our car up this morning from Heathrow with M&G from Purple Parking. We had booked standard parking with them but the week before we went we got offered an upgrade to M&G for just a tenner so took it.
Used PP a lot over the years but now I'm worried and not going to pick our post up until Tuesday

We always use the official on site car long stay car parks at Heathrow and Gatwick now, just booked LHR for November for £95 (2 weeks with quidco cash back) OH never leaves the keys hates.

Did have an incident several years ago in the LHR Marriott hotel car park where our catalytic converter was stolen whilst it was parked up.
At the time a lot of it going on took 6 weeks and £1,000 to get it replaced.

When are you booked in for? We've booked with Good to Go, as it was recommended by my son's friend who works for BA at Heathrow. DS used them last month and it was great, so we're booked for the summer with them. We haven't had an email though, and really hope they don't upgrade us too as we don't like handing the keys over either. We only booked with them as we could keep our keys.

Should this thread not be a sticky or something so people can pay their money and take their chance?

I used Purple Parking at Manchester a few years ago when I had a soft top beetle. On our return it was brought back with the roof covered in cigarette ash, all of the windows down and when I turned the radio on it was at maximum  Will never use them again!
