Air France
Morning dibbers
I've found some good priced flights to Miami (we'll stop overnight then drive to Orlando) but they're with Air France with a change at CDG in Paris. Has anyone done this journey or flown with Air France? We've not done either so a bit hesitant to book. Any info is appreciated Thanks |

Not to the US but traveled with AF a few times, always good...nothing bad to say
Get them booked if the price is right...remember CDG is a huge airport so as long as the connection times are long enough to not stress about |

Used them a few years ago MAN-CDG-MCO route and they were perfectly fine. We had a 1.5 hour layover in Paris and that was plenty of time, but I suppose it all depends on the day. We did have a row of 4 seat booked for months but when we checked in they had split us to 2 on one row of 4 and the other 2 on another row of 4. Don't know why they couldn't just put the two 2's together and leave us as a four but wasn't a big problem. Food was okay as well. I would use them again if the price was right.

Flew with them and enjoyed the flight. This was a few years ago but aircraft was nice, staff were nice, food was nice and in flight movies kept me entertained.
I think as said the connections are the only thing you need to watch out for. I think we were slightly rushed on outbound but was fine on return. |

Not used AF but have flown into MIA. We liked it. We stayed in Miami for 2 nights before the journey up and really enjoyed it (stayed on Miami Beach). The journey up is very straight forward but very boring! Drove back down to Miami on our return date and had a few stops on the way - plenty of time as had the late flight back to LHR. Have you also considered Tampa or Fort Lauderdale? We did Tampa last year and that was pretty easy too.

Have used Air France 4 times, never had a problem with the service once on board, however I have been affected by air strikes with them twice which caused problems, I wouldn't travel with them again unless the price was miles better than anyone else.

We wouldn't but then you can have a problem with any airline, it's how they sort it out that matters. We did Manchester to MCO via CDG. 5 of us - 2 with same name (one had a middle name). Got to check in desk at Manchester as soon as it opened to discover they only had 4 out of 5 tickets/seats for us. The guy had no idea how to sort it, kept frowning, muttering under his breath and a few times would look at me and tell me he didn't think he could fix this and we probably wouldn't be able to go! After an hour or so, he sent us (abruptly) to the other side of the hall to get someone else to sort it, who in turn told us to go back to the same check in desk/guy. Eventually a supervisor came along and helped, in total we were 2 hours at check in! I asked her if the problem was fixed (for coming home etc) and was told it was. Yeh right!
I phoned them several times whilst in Orlando to ensure all was okay for coming home. We get to MCO and was told at check in we had to get our tickets re issued at CDG but it wouldn't be a problem. When we got to CDG the queue for the helpdesk was very long and we had just under 2 hours to transfer. I tried to get assistance from an AF employee who put her hand up to my face to stop me speaking! I was told to scan the passsports and tickets would be issued, I tried to explain this would not work because of the hassle we had experienced on way out but she walked off! So scanned the passports and they didn't work. We had to then queue up, times ticking away and it's getting really close to being called for boarding. I had to plead (I was nearly in tears) with another AF employee to jump the line or we would miss our flight. He did help us out, and we made the flight by the skin of our teeth, with myself and DS in business class DH's face was a picture when we got on the plane and sat in the lovely seats whilst the other kids and DH walked down the plane and the staff pulled the curtain shut We found the whole experience with Air France very stressful and their attitude was terrible. They didn't give a damn. |
