Last time we went we arrived at our villa quite handy, approx 5.30 -6pm as we were out of Sanford very quick. Our family where already there and had decided to head to Copper Canyon Grill at about 7pm so we decided to go as we didn't feel too bad. By 9pm I was struggling to keep my eyes open and I struggled to eat my food which was a shame as it was really nice. Luckily my FIL had drove us and I fell asleep in the back of the car which I never ever do as I usually get sick sleeping in cars but this time I was out like a light. I wouldn't do that again on our first night. This time we have a later landing time and an hours drive so we are pretty much getting a quick tea (hoping for Publix deli counter) then relaxing in room. I personally love the first wake up as even though it is super early, it makes me remember where I am

OP, are you renting a car? Work out one I would be heading to a nearby restaurant and that is about it. A swim is a good idea as it might even help you sleep well.

We will be landing about the same time and our plan is McDonald's (kids want to do a supersize meal) then a quick trip round Wal-Mart and bed so we can have some sleep before an early morning for rope drop at MK

I agree with others about not planning anything for arrival night.
However, I'd reconsider your first day plans. Personally, I couldn't be there all excited on the first morning and spend it in Walmart. I'd be up early and hitting a park for rope drop for a couple of hours (make sure it's not a morning extra hours park for on-site guests), as you can get loads done during that first hour or 2 of park opening without needing fastpasses. Then I'd pop to Walmart on the way back to the hotel for a midday break before heading to HS for the afternoon/evening. You'll already have paid for parking that day, so it won't cost you any more and you'll get much more out of the day

Don’t plan anything for arrival night... however
We love (even if on the 2nd VA Man arrival) going to MK. It’s a bit like a tradition - even if we only go for food then back to hotel (we stay onsite). Normally dump cases and try and get to MK for Wishes (god I miss that show) and Hotdog from Caseys corner. That means WE’VE ARRIVED! Once went to MNSSHP on night one (it was the last night it was on). That was tough! But agree that planning something will only increase the disappointment if you don’t manage it. For the jet lag we try and stay awake as long as possible. We therefore try and arrange our arrival day for EMH night at MK. We then sleep as long as we need (so first full day will have nothing planned till dinner time) |

We are heading to Disney springs for dinner and cocktails and then back to hotel. You still feel like your in the Disney bubble at Disney springs but easy to get back to hotel and sleep x

I have always headed straight for MK to watch the fireworks and ride splash mountain but last trip we got in later than planned and we just ate at the food court and then went for a swim!
