Backpacks sound like a really good idea.

Frankly I think you are very brave I wouldn't have even considered a long haul flight with two babies (whether there was nine minutes or nine months between them ) without an extra adult along too.

This is what I was trying to say in a nice way. Expecting help from the airline staff to get to Customs because you have too much stuff to carry is a complete non starter and I agree complaining about it to the airline is pointless.

I hope it was powdered at least . There have been a lot of posts on here recommending collecting ready made cartons. I hope you didn't have to do that x 2.

I apologize if you read my post as a criticism though it actually feels like you aren't the one who did that. Hopefully you can now enjoy your holiday. At least there is no double bag drop on the way back!

I think you have missed the point. I can for sure tell you that if you don’t have twins you do not realise just what is needed. You seem to be focusing on the milk as you feel this was the OP’s main issue.

It’s in total the sheer amount of things needed and for various different reasons. Spare clothes, toys, nappies, bottles, snacks, books (and that’s just the adults) Ok you were a single parent on a plane with an infant... when the baby slept I bet you got a break? How about when one sleeps the other kicks off? Wakes the sleeping one and they kick off. Or one spills stuff on the other, or the two decide to have a kicking contest at the same time...

Not every situation can be applied to others, yes I can appreciate it would be tough as a single parent and an infant on a plane but that does not make it relevant to the OP. One infant is not the same as 2 regardless of adults. They have their own mind and personalities that need to be catered too.

You do not know the history of why the OP needed milk before leaving, you ASSUME it’s because she decided to take it even though it could be bought out there. Our twins were premature and were on prescription milk. We had no option but to bring the milk with us. You assume it’s harder for one parent and one baby, One parent vs two babies when the other half is trying to sleep or go to the bathroom... that’s where the craic is.

I’m sorry but I disagree, It’s not black and white as to how much is needed. The OP has told us her experience of getting through MCO with twins. Unless you have been through an airport with twins you can only make assumptions...

Anyway,

The OP has made it and is now on a great holiday. Hopefully they have a great time and and good journey home.

1 baby 1 adult 1 lot of stuff
2 babies 2 adults 2 lots of stuff

Other than the babies setting each other off I am seriously struggling to understand what is so different. If you are on your own there is no chance of sleeping as you are listening for the baby all the time and no going to the toilet without bringing the baby with you. So no I didn't get a break. I guess maybe you shouldn't make assumptions about what that was like either.

I am not a single parent just used to flying on my own. I didn't assume it was harder, I just said I had experience of the juggling act of flying without an extra pair of hands. And as others have agreed the trick is travelling as light as possible. Maybe someone else can learn from the OP's terrible experience.

Hope your having a lovely holiday ! Let me know what it's like with twins, although we have the added stress of a 4 year old too. But hopefully he will be more help than hindrance. My friends think I'm mad taking them all. But it won't stop me.

this so reminds me of a trip to Spain when my twins were 13 months old - i can only describe it as hell.
Newcastle to heathrow then to Santiago
the nice man at the airport put the pushchair all the way through to Santiago when i asked him not to ... we had a 6 hour wait in heathrow with no pushchair and 2 cranky babies
not something i ever want to experience again

Travelled to Sanford last year, 3 adults and twins under 2. We were last off the plane as it took a while to get everything together and an enormous queue at immigration. A lovely US customs lady led us from the back to the front of the queue!

Morning,

Just go clarify I’m the partner (male) - I didn’t take much notice of which account was logged in on my phone when I posted this.

This post is merely there to air a few annoyances and to hopefully give another family in a similar situation an idea of what they are getting into. We nearly didn’t book the holiday since we knew full well logisticaly this was a nightmare but he who dares wins

So any families putting off going on holiday due to having multiple infants... Don’t! It’s not easy but it’s doable(ish)...the kids are this age once so don’t miss out like we nearly did.
