VA air miles upgrade

I have a flight booked in July through Charter Travel and wanted to see if anyone had done this then phoned VA to see if they could get an airmiles upgrade from Economy to PE.

I don't have experience with Charter but typically TAs often use the lowest fare code for flights, which won't be upgradeable by any method. And because you booked with a third party, any upgrade requests usually have to go back through the agent rather than going directly to the supplier.

Do they tell you that your ticket is none upgradable at the time of booking?

There is a code on VA - I can�t remeber what mine is and it does not let you upgrade - I can phone up though and get an extortionate price! Just won�t let me do it online

It may (should) be buried somewhere in the terms and conditions but you probably won't be explicitly informed. If you're cautious and think you may want to upgrade in the future, ask for the fare code before proceeding. You can then cross-check its terms on somewhere like V-Flyer. There are about a dozen fare codes in economy alone.
