Mobile Glasgow connection

Hi, I wonder if anyone can advise regarding Glasgow airport...?

I’ve booked indirect flights from Birmingham - Glasgow - Orlando with Virgin Atlantic (Flybe operating domestic flight - virgin codeshare).

Has anyone done this? We have a 1hr 50m layover at Glasgow on way out. Does anyone know whether we would have to clear security again at Glasgow (and if so is it worth paying for fast track security?) My Dad has told me from memory Glasgow isn’t a huge airport and should be easy to navigate...? Is this still the case?

We would have chosen an earlier connection but as we’re traveling with an infant, I didn’t want to get her up earlier than absolutely necessary!

Thanks if anyone can help!

:-)

You would need to clear security because you would land into Glasgow as a domestic passenger and domestic arrivals goes straight out into the terminal building.

It's not a big airport but it's been re-jigged with refurbs over the past few years so there's a bit of walking from plane to boarding gate so you need to be mindful that the flight will start boarding approx 1hr before departure and someone in your party may be selected for additional security checks.

Also bear in mind that if you get the later flight that if there's any delay it'll cut into your 1hr 50mins - so pray for clear weather and no ATC strikes when you're doing the flight up from Birmingham.

We fly frequently from Glasgow. A compact airport and rarely takes us longer than 20 mins to get from bag drop to gate.

That said, if fast track security is inexpensive, then why not? You can never tell what delays can occur disembarking from Flybe... you might be bussed into the terminal.

What happens with your luggage? Is it checked all the way through, if so then you should have plenty of time, provided your first flight is on time. The airport is not that big although depending on what time of year you are flying, security can be mobbed so definitely worth looking at fast track

Whilst Glasgow isn't the biggest airport, it can get chock-a-block at the Glasgow Fair in July. When are your flights?

Hmmm thank you for this. I think I better pray as you say this runs smoothly. I didn’t realise we’d have to clear security again... *sigh!*

My understanding is that our luggage is checked all the way through. I sure hope so anyway! We will be going on Nov 2nd, so hoping it won’t be mega busy!
