Avoid the Nissan! What you want really is a proper Yank Tank so any of the others will do.

The Lincoln Navigator and the Ford Expedition are the same car just with a different badge. They are enormous and have a 3.5 litre turbocharged V6 engine which has 365hp, so has quite a useful turn of speed.

The Tahoe and Yukon again are the same as each other underneath, but these GM cars have a more traditional 5.3 litre V8 engine, which sounds more impressive but isn't quite as quick.

If there are several cars available try to pick one with leather trim as this will be a better spec than the ones with cloth trim.

we had a dodge journey , 6 seater , it was fun to drive but a bit sluggish . it only had 4 gears in the automatic box so took a bit of welly to accelerate at times
plenty of room for shopping though

Mainly TAHOE'S and FORD EXPEDITION'S will let you know in May. We loved the Tahoe last year. Not tried the new Expedition but it will have to go some to beat the Tahoe.

As I understand it, the Expedition is a bit quicker and handles a bit better as it has independent rear suspension as opposed to leaf springs which also makes the third row more usable by adults but is let down by the interior compared to the Tahoe/Yukon.

Somebody said the Alamo Tahoes are only the 4x2s as opposed to the 4x4 ones that Hertz supply but don't know about the Fords. It's unlikely you could make use of it on holiday and keep within the hire contract terms though

I'd have the Tahoe as it's the classic V8 SUV piece of Americana.

Would love a Tahoe (6 seater right ?) but prices are astronomical and can't justify the extra😳😳

It's 7 seats, 2-2-3.

Prices may drop before you go.

I booked back in October, going next week, and got one for £489 for 15 days.

When you search, do you search for full size suv?- are they all 7 seater? 😄

Going for 3 weeks August and they were £1200!
Having said that prices of Grand Caravan have rocketed since I booked.
Fingers crossed for price drop as I could cancel and change😄😄
