We are here now and are staying on site so parking is free for us. A glimpse of a magic band and you are waived through. Never had it checked or scanned even once. DH said we should have stayed off site and just bought our old bands from last time!

Don't they look for the print off from your hotel that you have to display on the windscreen

Wonder if they are now employing number plate recognition so the staff at the kiosks know who to charge

The information on where you're staying is on the magic band, it's the key that opens your door. It's got an RFID chip inside, why do they need a number plate? Their scanners read the band.

If connected to the magic bands then I would assume that they are using similar technology to what they do for attaching ride photos.

Because the poster wrote "A glimpse of a magic band and you are waived through. Never had it checked or scanned even once"

So without scanning the magic band how else would they know.

I thought perhaps they took recognition of the number plate which tells them what insure they stay at

The RFID chips can be scanned automatically from a few feet away. That's how they do the ride photos. Very occasionally they have to use the hand scanners. We have annual passes which give us free parking, we don't always take the same car.

We are here now and are staying at SSR with a car. We have visited all the parks and only had the magic band scanned once, can't remember which park though.

We have also visited SeaWorld and it wad $20 to park all day too, it's just one of those things now, Alton Towers, Chesington, Legoland & Thorpe Park all charge for parking, we have Merlin passes so not so much of an issue for us; you just need to factor the cost in to your plans, its such a small cost of the holiday imho, I've spent a lot more money on other things!
