Triple Treat Tour July 2016 Day 3 Part 1 Highline and Chelsea Market

The previous day is HERE

Its another photo heavy day so am splitting into two parts - maybe more, who knows

Tuesday 5 July

It wasn’t the greatest nights sleep

Super snorer had made a brief return

And my cough was really annoying

Although on the upside, my cold overall was definitely improving

It looked very grey and gloomy outside

Well it would do at 0530 – its still blooming nightime !

The weather forecaster assures us it is to clear up around mid morning and no rain is forecast so decide to stick with our plan

We will walk the Highline and visit Chelsea Market and pick up the teens later for some other sightseeing

Andy is a bit delicate – must have been a bad pint ….the last one obviously

We had the usual hotel breakfast – the cinnamon bagels were really nice

We set off for the Highline , checking directions with the guy in the Pizza place next to the Hotel

After walking several blocks it becomes clear the street numbers are not taking us in the right direction

We only had the choice of going left or right and picked the wrong one !

Andy is in no mood for more walking that necessary so we hail a cab to take us to 28th Street to join the Highline there

At first we seem to be gong nowhere in the traffic but it doesn’t take long at all and only cost $10

The Highline is quiet and , of course, after initially setting off THE WRONG WAY – we backtrack quickly towards the Chelsea Market end

Our navigation is uncanny

Don’t ever get lost with us – you would never get out !

We really enjoyed the walk – it was a shame it was a bit overcast – but then I think that kept a lot of people away , we hardly saw anyone

The random artworks were funky

Firetrucks and Coke trucks – you know you are in the States !

I loved the flower planting

Yeah, this did give me a “ what the ? ” moment – til I read the board

We loved all the contrasting architecture and buildings – and mused on how much apartments would cost along here

Finally reaching the waterfront

I am sure Andy contemplated a lie down in his slightly “ tired” state

Ok – this initially freaked me out I really didn’t know if it was a real person or not

We had walked all the way to 16th and after a bit of going round in circles to find the way down , we finally located the steps ( lack of signs people ! )

To make our way here

All that walking and its still only 0930 ….

Random Store photos

Now that is what you call a tub of Nutella

No, they are just plain wrong

It such a funky place

With a sense of humour too

Some drooling did occur

I resisted the Fat Witch ( I think that maybe what the kids call me in secret)

And the candy store

We sat for ages in the seat opposite this taking selfies and trying to work out what it was

And then back for more drooling

We stopped around here so I could get a coffee

Andy revived himself with an El Donkey Burrito – I know, don’t ask.

He said it was really good

It was certainly doing a brisk trade

We just sat and people watched and took it all in – it was really nice

Around 1000 we started back for the hotel – we walked a little way – passing this neat parking lot

Before deciding to just get a cab back – another $10 ride
And giving the boys 30 minutes notice to be ready for some sightseeing….

its 1100 when we set off - are we tired yet

And that is just HERE

I'm glad Andy used the tray . Young ones these days have no stamina. You're putting them boys to shame.

We loved walking The Highline, such a cool use of space.

That car park fascinated me!

I just commented on Day 2 about my dodgy sense of direction but I think you might have outdone me on this morning!

I went crazy about that car parking place. Sent snapchat messages to everybody about it! At the top of TOTR I spotted a building across from us with a car sitting about 50 storeys up, all by itself. Madness. I get such a kick out of stupid wee things like that. Luckily for my husband!

Really liked the Highline, I'd seen it in Jocats trippie and then a few others. It's a cool space. Chelsea market was great, we loved the Farmers Market in LA and it reminded us of that.
I still laugh at that sign. We both burst out laughing when we saw it and people around us were looking at us like we were mad things

Yes , he found the tray... Made life much easier. We were happy to leave them in bed this morning. We knew this wouldn't be their " thing"

It's great isn't it. Really liked it along there.
We had seen quite a few dodgy looking parking lots but that one was so cool. I mean, who takes a photo of a car park on holiday

Lol, who takes pics of parking lots ... Dibbers obviously ! We are easily amused. Great idea though.
Our navigation is truly uncanny. I just don't get how we are so bad. I have absolutely zero internal compass
