1.5 hours to make connection in Heathrow
We are booked with BA to Tampa from Manchester vis Heathrow and Miami.
First flight from MAN to LHR is with BA and the rest are with AA. We fly from Manchester at 7am and have to change terminals but we only have 1.5 hrs before the next flight takes off, will this be enough time, has anyone done this transfer before? Really wish we could have flown down the night before but they won’t change it without a £150 charge per person.

I would phone BA and ask if it’s do-able, see what they suggest. I know you are flying on with AA, are they codeshare with BA? Did you book it all separate, or through BA?

There's a bit on Heathrow website, you enter your flight numbers and it will show you where you need to transfer, e.g between terminals etc, it also gives the minimum connection times. We have a 1.15 hour connection at lhr but apparently that's the minimum for our connection, fingers crossed everything runs smoothly

At LHR it should be enough
if you call BA they will tell you it's doable, as it is over MCT if you want to make a change, if possible at all, it will come with a fee but 1.5 hours domestic to international, should not be a problem. not much time to spare though. |

The MCT is 90mins between terminals 5 and 3. We were on the LBA-LHR-MIA route and the flight times changed to an 85min connection which meant we had to re-route.

Heathrow is a nightmare in the early mornings where priority is given to flights landing from the US. I have had delayed landings many many times to Heathrow in the mornings.
I would be calling them to get a change if possible. The problem is that this timing will likely fall within the "minimum connection time" so you will relying n their good will. I would always go the night before. |

Thanks everyone, it looks like we are within their allowed connection time. Can’t help but feel panicky. There are a couple of flights heading to Miami after ours so if we miss hopefully we can get away on another one.

MCT is 90 mins for this. In normal circumstances it takes 30-45 mins from getting off the domestic flight to getting through security at T3.
The biggest variable is how on time the domestic flight will be, though T3 security and AA’s own extra security questions can play their part. You should make it, and if you don’t there are 4 flights a day to MIA between BA/AA. Yours isn’t the last, so there would be options for rebooking. It’s also possible a schedule change could take the connection below 90 mins and trigger a free rebooking. |
