I've flown under code shares before and had difficulties. I just dealt with the airline that I was flying with. So in your case, that would be AA. I believe, fundamentally you are treated as an AA passenger.
Certainly worth having the local BA contact details to hand as a just in case. They'll always put you on the next available flight (this might the next one with room rather than the next one to take off). If that means an overnight, they will usually pay for that for you (sometimes you have to go to the desk and ask!). If they don't, for example, if they blame bad weather (pet hate of mine, it's not your fault), then it's worth having the details of a booking agenda (for example Hotels.com / Expedia) to arrange a local hotel for you. You'll have to pay, but you will get it back from your travel insurance. Fortunately bad weather / layover thing has never happened to me, but I'm always prepared for it. |

My first time to Orlando was via Philly and it was a 2 hour lay over... it is massively tight if there’s any delays and you also risk your bags not going with you
