About half an hour later they rang back to say it was all sorted and the other 2 people in our party were now booked on our flight. I checked my virgin app 10 minutes later and the confirmation was right there. I rang virgin and changed the seats over so everything is now sorted.

I put in a quote request via their website earlier today before I'd read this and the other thread. I'll see what they come up with, but trust me I will make it clear that I won't be booking with them after what I've read on here.
I'll stick with Charter Travel or DIY for my flights and car.
