A bit of disaster recovery advice

My work involves a bit of data recovery and I seem to spend alot of time advising people to always backup their important data - ie the stuff you can't replace like photos and videos etc. Some people take it onboard, but others have to learn through experiencing the pain for themselves

Anyway, my tip to anyone who uses any data recording device like cameras, videos, memory cards, USB sticks, external HDD's etc, is that if you find you've accidently deleted the data before you've made a copy or backed it up - STOP USING IT IMMEDIATELY, then get in touch about recovering it. Continued use has a high risk of overwriting the lost data, which (ordinarily) should still be there waiting for you to recover it.

In the spirit of the DIBB, this is free advice as is any help I can offer to recover your lost data. Caveat - unless I get swamped with requests!

Mike.
