VA Twilight Check In @ Manchester
Hi
I’ve got some really good info already from the forums around twilight check in and an excellent reply from Manchester Airport around the parking for it but now my wife has asked a question I can’t answer. Do we need to take our hand luggage to the twilight check in as well so the desk can tag it ? Cheers |

Yes you do need to take hand luggage with you and all parties must be present. I have heard that some people say they haven't taken hand luggage and not had a problem but I can say that I didn't take it once and got sent back for it! so better to take it than waste time going back for it. Have a great trip

Hi LouLou
Really good info from the airport. I was worried as I’d heard the parking was difficult and pricey but as you can see below it sounds a simple process and worth a tenner if that’s what it takes. For twilight check in use T2 Multi Storey West Car park, Melbourne Ave, M90 4FX Park on Ground Floor 0. On approach to the airport head for P T2 West. Terminal 2 is a 6 mins walk from the car park Tariff is £4.50 for up to 30 minutes £7.00 for up to an hour £10 for up to 2 hours You get an orange token when entering and pay stations are by the lift and you can pay with cash or cards |

Thanks for that, thought I would need the hand luggage and it’s not really a chore to take it even if they don’t want to see it

We didnt take our hand luggage with us in june. They gave us tags to put on ourselves. We couldnt check the buggy in, had to do that the next morning.

Thanks Derek, it’s prompted another question regarding the check in/ bag drop process, would anyone know if you can upgrade then either cash or miles or would that have to be done the next morning?

You don't need hand luggage at twilight check-in. It would be pointless as even if they weigh it & tag it as accepted hand luggage the night before, you could then add whatever you wanted into the bag(s) to make them way overweight.
I personally don't see the attraction of twilight check-in... unless you have access to your car on the morning of departure to dump the previous days dirty clothes. If you don't, you're still taking the dirty washing with you to Florida so may as well just check-in on the day. (Just my view). We'll be getting a taxi from our hotel on Sat AM direct to T2 departures at MAN and will be carrying the previous days clothes with us - in the large empty cases. |

Hi, we did twilight check in at Manchester a couple of weeks ago, we didn’t take our hand luggage and was never asked about it. Loved doing twilight check in - we checked in at 6pm and there was no queue, just walked up to the desk. I also paid for fast track security, which I’m so glad I did as the queue was massive - £6 per head was totally worth it.
