Gla/LgwProcess
First time using this route next Thu morning so just wanting to be sure I have no dramas. As I understand it, bags will be checked in at GLA and we will not see them again until MCO? I believe when we get to LGW we are bussed landside and then simply need to head back airside via security again and that is basically it? Then wait 3hrs whilst daughter checks every make up shop in South terminal! And then pray MCO immigration is reasonably organised. Any info welcome incl breakfast recommendations in South Terminal. Thanks.

Yep, security is a bit annoying having already just done it in Glasgow. Give time to get from the main departure lounge to gate as Gatwick is ‘sprawling’

As Monolith says give yourself time to get to the gate as some can be quite a distance at Gatwick.
We enjoyed breakfast at Nando’s the last time we flew through the South terminal, particularly the spiced maple pancakes. gatwickairport/globa..._jan19_web.pdf |

We have only ever been bussed landside once, we walked the other occasions (all with BA) then back through security, which to this day I still don't understand how you cannot transit the terminal airside without passing security again. We travelled through Heathrow T5 with BA 2 weeks ago and never went through security again, therefore it begs the question why it needs to be done again at Gatwick?
As others have stated leave lots of time to get to gates as some are quite a distance from the Central shopping/dining areas.

Any last minute offers on the lounge? Far more enjoyable way of spending your time

I wouldn't expect 3 hours to kill in the departure lounge. I'm doing the same combination and think we'll have about 90 minutes (we have two small children in tow). It takes a while to get off the plane, across to security then in to departures. The gates are really far away compared with Edinburgh or Glasgow, so you're best heading down once your gate is called.
