Using DAS at WDW without going to the attraction

Thank you so much this is all really helpful.
I'd rather avoid splitting up for one of us to go ahead to an attraction for a return time whenever possible, if nothing else 2 adults keeping an eye on him is always better than one. & I'm sure a lot of people in our situation can understand going to a ride but not being able to go on it for an hour is a real meltdown maker.
