UK Passport
Planning our trip to the US in May and I will need a new ESTA (passport expires in Feb 20 but I won't need it until May as no other trips planned before then). I realise that this is probably a question to which most people will answer 'how long is a piece of string?' but I'll ask it anyway.
Assuming Boris and his cohorts are victorious in the forthcoming election and actually get a majority and if he manages to get his Brexit withdrawal bill passed relatively quickly after that, what are the chances of getting a blue, UK passport before my trip? |

I'm pretty sure the government have said they will use up current stocks before anyone gets a blue passport (they are issuing purple passports without EU on them at the moment - my son got one on his renewal in May). I'm going to guess it might be a while. You can always buy a blue cover if it's just the colour you're after.

When we were still meant to be leaving in March they said it would be "late 2019 or early 2020" when the blue passports come out. Though as PP says they are using all the burgundy passports first, without "European Union" on them.

If it takes as long as Brexit with all the changes in legislation, Rules etc etc
I would be surprised if it does'nt take two years for a change to take effect. |

I just got mine renewed last week- it was the burgundy colour but without the EU wording in. I read somewhere that the blue ones were coming in, from late 2019, so I was half expecting one, but as others have said they’re using up old stock first before implementing the blue ones.

There is no issue, no difficulties when we leave the hated EU, (decided on a peoples vote) passports today will be acceptable up and until the ten years on it are used up, and whilst new passports will be a different colour, will also be acceptable. Whether you get one of the stocks to be used up, or a new one doesn’t matter
