Wow, what a packed trip! Sounds like you'll have a great time!

We have visited Las Vegas and LA in one trip and then done San Fran on our honeymoon and would love to do a road trip again to repeat!

***update***

The wedding is now booked at the 'Chapel of the Flowers' on Wednesday 7th October at 11am. We've also booked the Vegas hotel (Bills Gamblin Hall & Casino) and the Page hotel (Bashful Bobs Motel)!

Still so much to do though! We need to also renew our passports soon or we won't be going anywhere!

Wow, your trip sounds fantastic.

We got married in the Bellagio in Vegas. At the time we had been together 12 years and wanted to take a trip and spend the money on each other than guests. We did Vegas, San Francisco, California and Hawaii and had a brillant time.

Looking forward to reading more about your plans.

You are going to have such an amazing time. There is just so much to see on your planned route. We did a similar one 5 years ago, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Page and Lake Powell but carried on into Utah and Colorado. One of the highlights for DH was rafting the Colorado River below the Dam at Lake Powell. Never got to see Rainbow Bridge because the lake was so low and the walk in high 90's was too much
Can't wait to hear all about it

What an amazing trip you have planned, I'm sure you're going to have a fab time! We're trying to work our way through the states of America inbetween our Florida holidays, so I will be reading with interest! We're thinking either Arizona or Texas for January 2010!

Well I've had an organising morning today, booking hotels and we've only got San Francisco left to book now as I'm just waiting for an email from The Hotel Mayflower with a price. We're trying to keep to hotel prices as low as possible, but that's very hard in San Francisco...I'm finding it the most expensive.

Today I've booked 'Bright Angel Lodge & Cabins' at Grand Canyon South Rim, this was $111 for a historic cabin with it's own bathroom. Can't be doing with running about at night looking for a toilet, or sharing a bathroom! The cheaper rooms had gone so it's a good job that I looked on Solo's thread and thought to book it now!

I also booked America's Best Value Inn at Kingman, Travelodge at Palm Springs, Goodnite Inn at Anaheim for 2 nights and changed my night at Hilton Garden Inn Valencia to a night earlier. I also had to cancel a few hotels were we had made changes, so now I am organised with all reservation details saved!

We changed our mind about our stops on the California coast aswell, we had 3 nights in all and the plan was the first night at Santa Barbara. This is the same I have booked 1 night at the Marina Beach Motel, then the third night was Monterey with the second night somewhere inbetween. We had a re-think and I've booked 2 nights at the El Adobe Inn in Monterey as I don't see it's worth 3 seperate stops, as the distance inbetween is not that far really. This way we can spend more time in Monterey doing the things that we want to do and could still visit Carmel and we will work Hearst Castle into the trip from Santa Barbara somehow.

Now I need to fill in my passport form and get my photos done, then I can send it off.

We have also been together for 12 years next month and we had the same thought as you, we didn't want to get ourselves into debt with a big wedding which we don't want. The wedding itself is not costing very much, it's definately on a budget and I'm really looking forward to it and there's no pressure!

The rafting would be great we would both love that, but we only have 1 night and the plan is a boat trip at Lake Powell if possible.

Would love to hear about what you did at Grand Canyon, Page and Lake Powell in more detail. It's great to hear about other peoples experiences and we have still to finish off the planning and decide what we're doing at each place.

I know that when we've been on this trip we will want to see more of America, we've said this already. But not before we go back to Florida, we've been pining for the place rather badly lately!
