The 6 points is annoying but not the end of the world. It's a lesson learnt and won't happen again.
Thats for sure!

As you say six points is minimal compared to what might have happened in an accident.
I rarely drive as I work from home and loathe it but I'm on the insurance . I haven't driven in the last year but when I called to renew discovered I'd somehow dropped off the policy last year (husband did it not me). I was just thankful to have picked up on it before there were any consequences!

So easily done, its a nightmare keeping on top of everything these days! I sometimes think I have done something, then remember I havent weeks later!

Nobody died, six points is a bummer but he’ll live. I expect like in our house you do all the organising and paperwork? Dont give yourself a hard time x

Make sure when you do insure the car to let the insurance company know about hubby's pending 6 points for driving without insurance or that would make the new insurance policy invalid (assuming hubby will be a named driver).

Unfortunately it will increase the premium.

None of us are perfect and things happen. Now we all know it could have been a lot worse but what's done is done.

There is no escaping the points and fine but thats life.

He is very very lucky the car wasn't recovered by a call out garage as that is standard procedure. That would have added circa £125 recovery charge plus a minimum of 1 days storage at £25+ even if they only had it in their yard for an hour whilst Insurance was arranged.

I worry about these critical dates and now fully rely on Outlook Calendar where I put everything with appropriate duration reminders. So for car Insurance it would be 14 days etc.

Dont be upset or angry.

I disagree. You cannot second guess the outcome. If it asks about a pending prosecution then yes. If not you wait for the Points to land then inform them.
He can in all honesty say that today he has a clean licence. that will change in the weeks to come.

Don’t beat yourself up . My dh is the same with paperwork etc but he’s a big boy and can read the calendar on the wall which has the dates on in big letters . Take it as it is a perhaps look at auto renewal , it might be a little dearer but at least you would be covered if you ever do get tied up with other things in life .
